Safety is always a number one concern for our students and families at Tait St. School. We are always pleased to see students walking or riding bikes, to and from school.
What can you do to help ensure safety for all? Please remember and practice the following:
- Avoid driving down Tait St. past Donald St. to drop students off. Doing so puts students who are on bikes or walking in jeopardy as there is no area for safe turn-around.
- You can park on Culham Dr. or Donald St. to drop students off.
- Alternatively you can stop and drop students off on West River Rd. where they can walk safely up the driveway’s sidewalk to the school
- Parking is also available on Grandridge Dr. from where students can access the school grounds through the Tait St. Walkway.
- Do not cross the street unless you are crossing from corner to corner. Student and adult Crossing Guards are usually in place to assist with safe crossing. Crossing the road from anywhere other than corner to corner in front of the bus or other traffic is very dangerous.
- If you are riding your bike or other wheeled modes of transportation remember to do so in the safest manner possible. As a cyclist you should be on the far right side of the road, obeying traffic signs. When you arrive at the school you must get off your bike and walk it to the bike racks. Riding your bike down the middle of the road is an unsafe practice.
Families, you can help by going over these safety tips with your children before they come to school. Let’s help to ensure that we keep all of our Tait Family Safe!
