Parents and caregivers of children with learning disabilities or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in Grade 7 or 8 are invited to take part in a virtual workshop series, offered by the Regional Assessment and Resource Centre (RARC).

About the Virtual Workshop Series

The Successful Transitions from Elementary to Post-Secondary (STEPS) program has been operating for over 15 years in the Kingston area, offering workshops to students and their parents or caregivers in Grades 7 and 8 with learning disabilities and ADHD. It has expanded to offer parents, guardians and caregivers programming delivered virtually in the summer over two virtual, half-day sessions.

What You Will Learn

The goal of the sessions is to provide:

  • Information and support to understand your child’s experience and potential more fully
  • Skills to navigate the school system
  • Ability to provide timely and targeted support
  • Support to know they are not alone

Who Can Attend

This virtual series is open to parents, guardians and caregivers of students in Grades 7 or 8 in Ontario with learning disabilities or ADHD.

Please note that this programming will be offered in English.

How to Register

There is no cost to the program, however you must commit to attending both sessions.

These sessions will run:

  • Tuesday, August 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
