1st Annual Tait Street BMV (book, movie and video game) SWAP Event!
Earth Day is just around the corner and we want to participate! It is time for spring cleaning!
Please make a pile of unwanted books, movies and videos (see specifics below) and send
them in with your child Monday, April 20 to Thursday, April 23. On Friday, April 24 we will have a gigantic swap and help make our earth a better place by practicing the 3 R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle).

Collection
From Monday April 20 to Thursday April 23 students can bring their used books, movies and video games to school. Their teachers will be collecting and counting the movies, video games and books brought in by each individual and recording the number of tickets that student will receive the day of the swap.
Tickets
The tickets will be delivered the morning of the swap for teachers to hand out to each student. The book tickets will be a different colour from the movie and video tickets. The following chart shows what each item is worth.

Quality Control
Books: The books will also have a quick check of the quality of the book (all pages, no stains, great condition, etc.) .If the book is in bad shape, unfortunately we will not keep the book for the swap, but give it back to the child who brought it in. All books should be children’s books (fiction or nonfiction), NO adult books. Magazines are not accepted.
Movies: The ratings for all movies brought in must be G (many animated junior level movies are rated G). PLEASE DO NO SEND IN ANY MOVIE WITH A RATING HIGHER THAN ‘G’ OR IT WILL BE RETURNED TO YOUR CHILD. Before the Swap event, please speak with your child about the best selection for your family. The movies MUST be DVD‘S, NO VHS movies. Also, the movies must be in good working condition and not scratched or damaged (or it will be returned to the child).
Video games: All ratings for video games must be E or lower and all video games must be in good working condition. Please label your video games (use masking tape) with what technology they are intended for {eg., Wii, PS3 etc.), Computer games and older vides games are NOT permitted.
Leftover Items
Items that are left over after the Swap will be donated to a local charity.

Can my child bring in a large quantity of books, movies and videos?
Yes! There is no limit.
Why the 2:1 trade in ratio instead of 1:1?
We want to offer an excellent variety for the students. Extra items will allow us to make a donation to a local
charity.
What if I don’t have anything to donate?
This is not a problem. This event is completely voluntary.
Can my child still participate in Swap Day (be able to choose a book, movie or video) if he/she does not donate a book, movie or video game?
No, unfortunately only students that donate items will be able to choose an item(s) on the day of the Swap.
I have a large Eye Spy book, does size matter?
No. All sizes will be accepted.
