Good Afternoon Tait Families,

We are excited to welcome back all of our Tait Tigers and eager to meet our newest students on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. If you have not had the opportunity to read the school board memo, please review it here.

In order to assist our students and families to find their appropriate classrooms upon arrival on the first day of school, we have created the plan below. Please note that our supervision begins at 9 am.

Kindergarten Students (Walkers & Bus)

Kindergarten walkers will meet at the side of the school. Many of you are already familiar with the area from Kindergarten information night. Junior kindergarten parents are reminded to please ensure your kindergarten child is wearing their coloured bracelet indicating their classroom. Both junior and senior kindergarten families can find a staff member in an orange vest who will help direct you to the correct classroom area.

Our kindergarten students that ride the bus will be escorted by a staff member from the bus to their classroom area at the side of the school. There will be lots of hands on deck to assist our youngest Tait friends.

Bus Students

Our grade 1-3 students will be escorted off the bus and walked to the back of the school to the soccer field by a staff member. From there, staff will help students find their appropriate classrooms. Please remind your child of their grade and have your child practise saying their first and last name to assist finding their name/grade on our lists.

Our grade 4-6 students will be given instructions when they arrive at the school. They will be asked to walk to the back of the school to the soccer field and line up at one of the stations that indicate their grade. They will be greeted by a teacher in an orange vest that will direct the student to the correct line.

New Students

Our new students to Tait may seek assistance from any staff wearing an orange vest. In addition, they may line up at the back of the school on the soccer field at their grade station where they will be supported to find their new classroom.

Rainy Day Plan
In the event of heavy rain, we will have our students line up at our back doors. Students will be guided to our gymnasium where we will run a similar plan inside. In this case, we ask our caregivers to wish their children a wonderful first day and say goodbye at the door.

We understand that many students are both eager and nervous to find out their new classrooms and classmates. Please know that your children are in great hands and we have a caring plan in place to support all of our Tait Tigers! We are looking forward to seeing everyone next week.

Sincerely,

Maggie Watson
